A HIGH school was put on lockdown after police rushed to the campus over reports of shots fired.

Cops responded to the calls at Walled Lake Central High School, in Michigan, just after 8.30 on Tuesday morning.

Oakland Co. Sheriff told The Sun that the school was on lockdown, but no injuries were reported.

"We received reports of shots fired at Walled Lake Central High School at 8:31," Michael G. McCabe said.

"We have multiple units and other local police departments on scene clearing the building right now."

Officials added that a primary search found no injuries or confirmed shots fired.

However, a secondary search is underway.

Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard tweeted "FALSE ALARM FALSE ALARM" following the reports.

Reports claimed that students are barricaded in the classrooms, however, this has not been confirmed.

Police told Local 4 that they were investigating who made the initial 911 call.
