MARSEILLE star Dimitri Payet threw himself to the ground looking for a penalty with an outrageous dive against PSG in last night's Le Classique.

Payet, 34, was trying to set up an angle for a shot in the PSG box, but was closed down by Marquinhos and Danilo Pereira.

The former West Ham attacker opened up his body to shoot his left foot and Pereira stretched out a leg to block the attempt.

But instead of going for goal, Payet hurled himself to the ground instead, looking at the ref for a penalty.

But French referee Benoit Bastien had a perfect view of the incident and ignored Payet's claims for a spot-kick.

One fan hilariously commented: "Absurd!!! His little ridiculous man-buns are too tight, clouding his brain."

Whilst another couldn't understand what Payet had done wrong, saying: "Is it not a penalty?"

The derby ultimately ended 0-0 after a dramatic 90 minutes which included two disallowed goals, a red card, and crowd trouble involving the Marseille fans.

Luan Peres thought he had scored an own goal to give PSG the lead after 14 minutes, but it was ruled out by VAR after Neymar was judged to be offside in the build up.

Then just six minutes later Arkadiusz Milik fired home from a Pol Lirola cross to give the home side the lead, only for VAR to also rule that one out for offside as well.

The game was then halted as Marseille fans hurled missiles at PSG star Neymar as he tried to take a corner.

The Brazilian had to be guarded by police with riot shields as the home fans threw empty plastic bottles and cups at him from the stands.

PSG full-back Achraf Hakimi was also sent off just before the hour mark for a last-man challenge on former Leicester loanee Cengiz Under.

Meanwhile PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino was dealt another blow as Marco Verratti picked up and injury and had to be withdrawn just before the interval.

Both sides had chances to win the match, but neither side could break the deadlock, with Marseille coming closest in the second half after Hakimi's red card.

A Marseille fan also ran onto the pitch and headed towards Lionel Messi, before being eventually stopped by stewards and dragged off the pitch.

PSG fans were banned from attending the game by the French authorities due to suspected crowd problems, after Marseille's game against Nice was called off back in August for the same reason.

Marseille fans also made headlines last month when a mass brawl broke out with Angers supporters, which then eventually spilled onto the pitch, with the players and coaching staff getting involved.
