A TEENAGER has made an emotional appeal for her birth mother to come forward in an attempt to track down the woman who abandoned her as a newborn.

Jessica Boatwright, 14, from Sydney, Australia, made the heartfelt statement on a national TV station in her search to find her genetic mother, who left her just hours old at a hospital.

The mystery woman never came back to collect Jessica or explain why she left the hospital without her, heartlessly walking away from the baby.

CCTV released for the first time shows the woman cradling Jessica, who is wrapped up in a towel, as she arrived at the doors of Sydney's Liverpool Hospital.

When the mum was spotted by staff, both mother and child were admitted to a ward – but within hours, the woman had sneaked out, leaving eight-hour-old Jessica behind.

For five months, police, doctors and national media pleaded for the woman to come forward, but she never surfaced – and now Jessica, who was adopted before she turned one, is determined to find her.

As well as clearly showing her leaving, the new footage sees Jessica's birth mother asking for a Thai interpreter at the hospital front desk before giving the nurse a fake name.

Jessica told A Current Affair: "I have read the articles and seen pictures but I have never actually seen the footage – so it's a bit emotional seeing that.

"I want her to know that she should not feel terrible and not to feel guilty in any way for [leaving].

"I want her to know that for any reason why she left me there, whether it was because she needed to or she felt like I would have a better life, that I am doing really well.

"It's not her fault, whether it was for any external reasons or any other reason – it's not her fault. It would just be amazing to find out who she was."

Jessica's adoptive parents, Brad and Anna, are fully supportive of her in her quest to find the mystery mother figure in her life, saying they too would 'love to give her a big hug'.

But most importantly they want to fill the hole the teen says she's lived with, describing is as 'like searching for a piece of her heart that's gone missing'.

Jessica hopes the woman is still out there and gave a heartbreaking message to her on air.

"I want her to know I love you even though I've never met you," she said. "I would really, really love to meet you, sit down with you, just have a conversation. I want to give you a big hug.

"You are my birth mother and I would really like to have that opportunity, but I'm living in a fabulous family at the moment.

"Just be brave and come forward. There's no judgement. I'm not going to judge you no matter what reason or anything.

"It would be the fairy tale ending that I've always wanted."
