A HERO dog saved a newborn baby after finding him in a field where his teenage mum allegedly buried him alive.

Ping Pong the six-year-old pooch was seen digging alongside a farmer’s field in Korat, Thailand, on Wednesday morning.

His owner Usa Nisaika, 41, went over to look and noticed the infant’s tiny leg poking up from the ground.

Usa frantically dug up the 5.2lbs baby and rushed him to hospital where he was found not to have suffered any serious injury.

The infant has been deemed healthy and police have charged the mother, aged 15, with child abandonment and attempted murder.

He's loved by the entire village

Usa said his dog – who only has three working legs after being hit by a car as a puppy – was a "hero".

He told Khaosod Newspaper: "I kept him because he's so loyal and obedient, and always helps me out when I go to the fields to tend to my cattle.

"He's loved by the entire village.

"It's amazing."

Panuwat Puttakam, an officer at Chum Phuang police station, told the Bangkok Post the teen mother was now in the care of her parents and a psychologist.

He said that she regrets her actions and the girl's parents have decided to raise the baby.
