After a lot of anticipation, Season 10 (or Season X) of Fortnite is finally here, and it offers a lot of changes.

The most notable change is the addition of the new mech vehicle, called B.R.U.T.E. The B.R.U.T.E. is a giant robot you can walk around in and shoot rockets out of. If it sounds ridiculous in text, that’s because it actually is ridiculous in gameplay. We have more details on the B.R.U.T.E. later in this post.

In addition to everything that’s new, there’s also plenty of things that are now gone (RIP Ballers). The Zero Point Explosion has also led to a few map changes, most notably the introduction of Rift Zones. It also sounds like Epic Games plans on changing things up quite a bit throughout Season 10 as the narrator in the trailer video says, “The world you play today may not be the world you play tomorrow.”

We’ll now dive in to more detail with all of these changes.

Fortnite Season 10 patch notes

As we mentioned before, the addition of the B.R.U.T.E. is easily one the main new features of Season 10.

Here’s how Epic Games describes it:

Few suits make you feel as powerful as a mech suit does. In this two-person vehicle, players can control its movement while their partner controls its firepower. Those feeling extra adventurous can operate it solo by switching between moving and shooting!

And some additional features of the B.R.U.T.E.:

Vaulted from the game are:

As you can obviously tell, a lot of mobility has been removed from the game. No more Baller, Quad Crasher or Glider Redeploy. In explaining this move, Epic Games says: “Over time, we have added many mobility options, both itemized and map-based. We feel that Season X is better experienced with a reduction in mobility. As with all changes, we’ll keep a close eye on how this affects the player experience.”

There were also a few bug fixes and a few changes made to Arena Game Mode. For the full rundown, you can visit Epic Games’ release.

Not a whole lot has actually changed on the map. We now have Dusty Depot instead Dusty Divot, which was teased ahead of the season’s release. But the biggest change is the addition of Rift Zones.

Rift Zones

“The Zero Point Explosion has made the island volatile! Locations once thought to be lost are beginning to appear, but they aren’t the same as they once were… Drop in and explore to discover what mysterious gameplay changes they have in store.”
