Desperate patients struggling to see a GP have been caught on camera waiting outside a practice for an hour before it opens in a bid to get an appointment.

Joanne Buckland shared a photo of up to 20 patients standing in the pouring rain as they waited outside Queensway Medical Centre in Wellingborough, Northants.

The outraged neighbour claims people have taken to turning up 75 minutes before the surgery opens to guarantee an appointment.

Joanne Buckland moved across the road from the surgery a year ago said she will only go to see the doctor if ‘she absolutely has to’ after taking the pictures last week.

Joanne said: ‘I live opposite and I see people queuing every day. It’s ridiculous, they expect us to wait outside in all weathers. There used to be a bench, but not anymore.

‘People start coming around 6.45am and wait till 8am to get in and then wait again before seeing the receptionist.

‘I have tried booking an appointment by phone but I had to be four or five minutes on hold before even getting to the main menu. ‘

The medical centre has been contacted for comment.
