Moment a scammer throws himself across the bonnet of car at Dublin traffic lights in bizarre ‘crash for cash’ bid – but gives up when he is hit by wiper blades

  • A man stood outside McGettigan’s Bar threw himself onto the vehicle bonnet
  • He feigns injury before windscreen wipers swipe down and hit him on the head
  • The bizarre Queen Street, Dublin stunt was captured on dashcam in January

This is the hilarious moment a desperate ‘crash for cash’ attempt backfires as the alleged scammer is hit on the head by wiper blades.

Dashcam footage shows a male pedestrian waiting to cross Queen Street in Dublin before he throws himself onto the bonnet of the vehicle.

The man moans as if in pain as he splays his legs and rolls his head back.

Seconds later, though, the windscreen wipers – set to intermittent – swing across and smack the alleged ‘victim’ on the top of the head.

He flinches and yelps then slides off the bonnet, before running away from the vehicle.

The bizarre stunt outside McGettigan’s Bar was recently shared on local media after it was captured on dashcam by a driver.

Dublin local Nicole Cummins, 22, shared the clip which has clocked up more than 13,000 views, with the caption: ‘Ah Dublin, ya can’t beat it can ya?’

So-called ‘crash for cash’ scams typically see people stage road accidents in the hopes of receiving compensation.

MailOnline reported last March how an alleged ‘crash for cash’ scammer ran into the path of a passing car and hit the bonnet so hard that he left a dent.

Ryan Johnson, 19, was driving in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, when the man ran into the road and struck the front of his car.

The motorist reported the incident to Humberside Police, although officers said at the time that the circumstances of what happened were ‘disputed’.
