Alex Rodriguez called it a bit early on Sunday afternoon in Phoenix.

The longtime New York Yankees star and ESPN analyst, who was sitting courtside with his girlfriend during the Suns’ blowout 123-90 loss in Game 7 to the Dallas Mavericks, looks like he fell asleep during the third quarter at the Footprint Center.

Based on how the game was going at the time, it’s hard to blame him. The Mavericks jumped up to a 30-point lead at halftime, which is the largest in a Game 7 in NBA history, and held Phoenix to just 27 points through the opening 24 minutes. Dallas star Luka Doncic had 27 points in the first half on his own.

The game was a beatdown from the early moments, and didn’t let up at all in the second half as the Mavericks cruised to the 33-point win.

But a courtside nap is, well, not great. Just ask the Philadelphia 76ers fan who got caught slumped during their series with the Miami Heat last week.

In Rodriguez's defense, the TNT cameras could have just caught him in a bad moment coming out of a commercial. His nap, if that’s the case, may have lasted just a few seconds.

Regardless of his reasoning, this game is almost certainly one to forget … for both Rodriguez and the Suns.
