The View: Whoopi Goldberg begs rowdy audience ‘to let them ‘get through it’

Whoopi Goldberg is no stranger to putting people in their place, but this time The View host took it one step further and called out her entire audience. Goldberg was about to interview guests when she was forced to shut down the rowdy audience, begging them to let her and her co-hosts “get through it”.

Whoopi Goldberg was forced to shut down the disordered live audience on Tuesday morning’s episode of The View.

Goldberg and her co-hosts welcomed American Idol judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, during Tuesday’s instalment of the hit morning chat show.

As the trio of judges walked out to the panel, the audience cheered on their feet and screamed for them.

Bryan played up to the crowd, by twirling one of the audience members around in a playful dance before he sat down with the panel.

The audience continued to cheer as the guests took their seats with The View panel.

Goldberg attempted to begin her interview with them, saying to Bryan, Ritchie, and Perry: “It’s really wonderful to have you all here at the table with us.

“You’re back with the 21st season — only six for y’all — of American Idol. Now, when you see all the things that-“

The host clearly couldn’t concentrate as the crowd loudly cheered. She pouted her lips and swivelled around in her chair to face the audience.

The actress firmly addressed the audience saying: “OK, ya’ll, you have to let us ask the question.

“We’ll get back to you, but you’ve got to let us get through it because you know we take forever to ask these questions.”

The comedian slowly focused her gaze on the camera and continued to pout, as the audience and panel laughed.

The actress resumed her interview with the American Idol judges as she said “Anyway!” and turned back round to face the panel.

It’s not the first time Goldberg has called out someone from behind the scenes of The View.

This week, Goldberg’s target was one of the show’s producers as she reflected on her past controversial comments.

While mid-conversation, the actress furiously side-eyed the crew as she discussed people being cancelled and not given the “opportunity” to apologise.

It comes after Goldberg was recently suspended from her role as a panellist on The View last month.

The reason for her suspension was because of her controversial comments on the Holocaust, which saw around 6 million Jewish people lose their lives between 1941 to 1945.

After the show aired, the actress faced a huge backlash from fans, who admitted they had “lost respect” for the host following her comments.

The show’s network ABC called her comments “wrong and hurtful” and later suspended her from the show.

The View continues weekdays on ABC in the US.
