THE Masked Singer smashes ratings record as 10.6million tune in to see Joss Stone revealed as Sausage.

Joss, 33, was unveiled as the mystery celeb behind the mask – despite many being convinced it was Stacey Solomon.

An average of 8.6m people – peaking at 10.6m – watched last night's final, making it the biggest live TV audience of the year outside of news and sport.

The ITV show gained 2.2m extra viewers in comparison to the first series' finale.

Sausage was crowned winner ahead of Badger and Robin, who were unveiled as Ne-Yo and Aston Merrygold in the final last night.

Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Managing Director, Media and Entertainment, said “In these testing times, we’re delighted that The Masked Singer has brought some escapist joy and light relief to so many viewers at home.

"At the end of a long week in lockdown we’re all coming together and trying to guess who’s dressed as a giant sausage, and quite frankly, it’s been a brilliantly entertaining tonic.”

The second series of The Masked Singer has been a ratings hit for ITV, launching with 4.2m viewers on Boxing Day, growing each week, and more than doubling its audience to achieve its biggest audience yet for the final last night.

The Masked Singer has also attracted the biggest 16-34 audiences on TV across 2021 so far outside of news programming – with a peak of 1.7million 16-34 viewers last night, a 61% share of viewing.

Many fans were convinced that Stacey was Sausage after picking up on a whole host of clues – with the most recent being the fact she introduced new pet sausage dog to her followers yesterday.

Stacey had repeatedly denied the claims – insisting that she wouldn't have been able to keep it a secret, and has since apologised to viewers who were left disappointed that it wasn't her.

She even revealed that Joe wasn't speaking to her because he was angry that she "hadn't told him she was on the show."

Taking to her Instagram Story after tonight's final aired, Joss could be seen cradling her newborn daughter Violet as she demanded Joe say sorry to his other half.
