Megan Boone had quite a memorable first day on the set of The Blacklist with James Spader. The actor got cast to play FBI agent Elizabeth Keen in 2013, and she was one of the main characters in the show for eight seasons. But Boone’s first day acting with Spader, who plays Red, is one she will not soon forget.

Megan Boone describes stabbing James Spader in the neck on the set of ‘The Blacklist’

During an interview with Daily Actor, Megan Boone discussed one of her favorite scenes to film in The Blacklist. She said, “The scene in the pilot where I stab Red in the neck was really an incredible day. We were on the 29th floor of the Waldorf Astoria on Park Avenue, which for me was just kind of larger than life, you know, just an experience that felt a little bit like I had gone into a different paradigm or something.”

Boone explained that stabbing Spader in the neck was the very first time she acted with him. She said, “It was my first scene shooting with James, and that was the first time I learned what an incredible co-worker and collaborator he was going to be.”

Boone continued, “I did not know what to expect, as I’m sure anyone going into a working relationship that doesn’t know… It was so refreshing to me to be kind of nervous, and I kept to myself, and I just worked as hard as I could that day. He would pull me aside in between scenes and ask me how I felt the scene was going, what I needed from him, and by the end of the day, I was just as open and sort of collaborative involved, and free as I could be with anyone.”

Even though the beginning of Megan Boone‘s working relationship with James Spader in The Blacklist started with a knife to the neck, she still has fond memories of that day.

Megan Boone left ‘The Blacklist’ in season 8

Unfortunately, Megan Boone parted ways with James Spader and The Blacklist after the season 8 finale.

The last scene of the finale showed Liz admitting to Red that she didn’t want to kill him. The two of them came up with a plan for her to kill him to show other criminals that she was not to be messed with. But when Liz pointed her gun at Red, she couldn’t go through with the plan. Liz never got the chance to lower her weapon, though, because one of Neville Townsend’s men, Vandyke, shot her in the back. Red then shot back at him and killed him.

Liz bled to death on the street as her life flashed before her eyes. And that was the last that fans saw of Megan Boone in The Blacklist.

‘The Blacklist’ Season 9 is currently airing on NBC

Megan Boone leaving The Blacklist was a shock to many fans. But so was the time jump that took place when season 9 premiered on Oct. 21.

The new season picked up two years after her death, with the task force disbanded and Red’s location unknown. Of course, their breakup didn’t last for very long, and now, the team is back together and hunting down Blacklisters.

The Blacklist Season 9 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
