Strictly Come Dancing fans are "convinced" that a former celebrity contestant on the show was meant to make the final in new claims of a "fix".

Currently, three celebrities remain in contention to win the show. EastEnders star Bobby Brazier, Bad Education star Layton Williams and former Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach are to battle it out to see who wins the glitterball trophy this Sunday (December 17).

But some fans of the BBC show believe that one of the previously eliminated contestants was due to be joining the trio. Speaking during Wednesday night's It Takes Two (December 13), a passing comment from professional dancer Dianne fuelled speculation from fans that Nigel Harman was set to make the final.

Brazier himself has had a rocky journey reaching the final, having landed in the bottom two on a number of occasions. Now it seems fans have convinced themselves that BBC bosses were not expecting Bobby to have made it this far into the competition, instead focussing on getting Nigel to the final.

Nigel and partner Katya Jones were made to withdraw from the show earlier this year, after Nigel sustained a painful injury. The injury happened just a week before the semi-final performance, which forced them to pull out, leaving four couples left – with tennis legend Annabel Croft being the last celebrity to be eliminated from the competition.

Speaking on It Takes Two, Bobby's professional partner Dianne Buswell gave viewers a taste of what will be in store during their final dance. "There is a lot going on in this routine and a lot of different styles," Dianne explained.

"We do a bit of ballroom, we do tap! We do some tap guys and a bit of jazz!" she continued. Hearing his partner describe what the couple get up to, Bobby beamed with excitement as he said he was ready to get on with the high-energy routine.

But fans of the show were not impressed with the move from Bobby and Dianne, with many believing that the dance was instead intended for Nigel and Katya. Taking to social media, some viewers vented their frustrations, with one fan writing: "Don't think anyone mentioned that there is a bit of tap in Dianne and Bobby's show dance."

The fan continued: "Surprised at that, especially if Bobby really 'never danced before' (and there is absolutely no evidence he has danced before). Seems a lot to ask to pick up some tap technique on top of everything else he has to learn and relearn this week."

A second fan agreed with the idea, commenting: "Actually, I believe you could be right that it was choreographed for Nigel as he can tap dance." Whilst a third offered a more comprehensive reason as to how Bobby landed the routine: "Yes I picked that up.

"I did wonder if this was a showdance that had been pre-choreographed especially for Nigel as I believe he has had some training in tap. Now Nigel is not there they have palmed it off on Bobby. Bobby seems happy with it which is the main thing."

Bobby and Dianne will be dancing three dances during the final. Of their various dances during the series, the judges asked to see their samba from week three, as well as the show dance to a medley from La La Land – alongside his couple's choice – used as a tribute to his late mum Jade Goody.

The final of Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 7pm on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
