Selling Sunset is a popular series on Netflix and season three is due to land in August 2020. The series follows real estate agents at The Oppenheim Group in LA, which is renowned for making huge sales on luxury homes. Christine Quinn has spoken exclusively to Express.co.uk about the hardest part of the job.

Selling Sunset is popular on Netflix as it showcases luxury homes and celebrity clients, both of which are familiar to real estate agent Christine Quinn.

The experienced realtor, from Dallas, has been at the top of the real estate market for many years following a successful career in fashion.

She travelled the world for a couple of years, which is where she developed a love for architecture and designing homes.

Quinn has attracted plenty of Hollywood stars who are looking for their next million-dollar home, but there is one downside to the job.

The real estate agent revealed to Express.co.uk the agents do not get paid a salary.

She said: “We don’t get paid unless we sell a home. We are purely commission-based.

“That part of the job can be extremely frustrating. I had a listing recently that sat on the market for a year.

“I did showings multiple times every week and open houses every Sunday. The home never ended up selling. It is like a roulette game sometimes.”

This would explain why the real estate agents are so keen to make purchases, as there is so much at stake.

Fans sat through an awkward moment between co-star Davina Potratz and her client Adnan Sen as she tried to land a sale on his $80million (£62million) home.

The agents have also been obsessing over the $40million (£32million) house in Hollywood Hills, as there was a whopping $1.2million (£979,000) commission up for grabs.

This agreement around pay is not unusual in the world of real estate, as most agents make money through commissions based on a percentage of the home’s selling price.

Their annual income is never the same, as it depends on how many sales they complete, how much of the commission goes to the brokerage, and other factors.

In this case, a single commission would be split numerous ways between the agent, The Oppenheim Group and the buyer’s agent.

Huge amounts of money are still up for grabs, but the lack of a stable income can seem frustrating, as Quinn says.

Fans have been keen to find out more about Quinn and what she gets up to outside of work, and she shared her morning routine with Express.co.uk.

She said: “I start each day with coffee and catching up on emails. I am obsessed with coffee and hot tea.

“I have four different coffee makers and methods. Depending on my mood, some days I make a cappuccino, somedays french press, and if I am feeling crazy I will have a hot tea.

“I also have some really fun cappuccino stencils that add a fun touch to the morning. My favourite cappuccino stencil is a picture of my idol, Marilyn Monroe.

“If I have time to work out, I will incorporate something light like stretching, or a hike.”
