James Haskell is risking losing serious gainz after going on a 700-calorie starvation diet in the I'm A Celebrity jungle.

The 34-year-old rugby ace admitted last night he's "wasting away" in front of the cameras as he's forced to eat minuscule amounts of rice and beans along with the rest of the campmates.

Back at home with wife Chloe Madeley, James gorges on 4,000 calories a day to maintain his muscular physique.

But with all the celebrities given a set amount of basic rations to eat each day, James is likely to start losing some of his famous curves.

"I never thought I would look at a menu and chose crocodile feet. We're still only getting 700 calories per day," the athlete told Extra Camp last night.

"We're slowly wasting away, but wasting away with dignity!"

Of the gruelling jungle diet, James said he and his campmates are resorting to desperate measures to perk up their meagre meals.

"We're literally scraping the barrel of discovering different ways of cooking rice and beans and trying to add some flavour," he added.

Wife Chloe previously joked how James' absence would slash her grocery bills.

But James isn't the only star to find the lack of food grating, as former footballer Ian Wright has also confessed he's getting close to the brink just four days into his jungle stint.

"I don't think it's five days yet and I'm already doing the… I'm struggling with eating," he told the Bush Telegraph in last night's main show.

"When Arsene Wenger first came to Arsenal, we literally changed from eating what we wanted to literally bland, I'm talking bland, food – almost similar.

"It's almost taken me back to remembering how bland the food was."

Wrighty clashed with Andrew Maxwell around the campfire after the comedian offered him another crocodile foot.

"Ian, everyone has had some, there’s two there, go," he told the football pundit.

When Ian declined, Andrew said again: "Come on, seriously, Ian."

Wrighty raged, "I said I don't want no more f**king crocodile", prompting Andrew to snap, "Jesus, the drama".

But Ian later calmed down, telling the Bush Telegraph: "James and Andrew have concern for me eating, it's nice."

Despite being the one with the least body fat to lose, James appears to be coping better with the food situation than any of the other stars.

He and Ian took a jungle shower together while discussing their diet, and pointed out: "This isn't about cakes and food, it’s about…"

"Survival," a grim-faced Wrighty chipped in.

"This is about fuelling your body so you can get through the day," James told him confidently.
