SOAP fans need to look out next month – because their favourite shows are being thrown into turmoil.

All of the 'big three' mains soaps are airing at different times, with Emmerdale being axed entirely on Tuesday 10 September to make make way for live football.

ITV will only air five trips to the Dales, with the show disappearing in favour of live coverage of England's Euro 2020 qualifier against Kosovo at 7pm.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street is going back to being an hour-long Friday episode from 7.30pm on September 13.

And that has had a knock-on effect over on BBC1 with EastEnders having been shunted to an unusually late hour.

The Albert Square soap and Corrie tend to be at pains to avoid one another in the schedules – and in this case the BBC show has been forced out of its usual slot.

EastEnders has moved to avoid the two soap giants clashing, with the Albert Square soap airing later than usual at 8.30pm.

It's not clear yet whether an extra episode of Emmerdale will be scheduled to replace the one that was pushed out by the football.

There are weeks of action ahead on the countryside soap, with Robert's plea hearing approaching.

In a meeting with his solicitor, he is told his best option is to plead guilty, but he refuses – leaving his family terrified when the result finally comes in.
