Coronation Street’s Jan Lozinski (Piotr Baumann) will be left for dead after he gets shot by trafficker Rachel in front of his horrified girlfriend Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) in scenes due to air tonight.

The drama will see the modern slavery storyline come to an end as Jan is gunned down by human trafficker Rachel Healy (Verity Henry).

Eileen was unaware that Jan is actually a police informant and was infiltrating the vicious trafficking ring but he risks his life when he returns to the cobbles to tell her the truth.

He even tries to persuade her to move to Amsterdam and go into witness protection with him.

Eileen is gobsmacked by the revelation and talks to lawyer Paul Martin who confirms Jan’s story.

But everything is ruined when Rachel tracks Jan down and gets her revenge by brutally gunning him down as a terrified Eileen looks on.

It’s not yet known whether or not Jan survives the shocking encounter but photos reveal Eileen covered in blood and looking over Jan’s lifeless body.

A source told the Daily Star: ‘Jan is one of the main witnesses in the police case against the human traffickers.

‘They had no idea that he was working as a police informant and all trusted him. So it’s no wonder that Rachel wants him dead.’

The slavery ordeal storyline recently saw Alina Pop held captive but actress Ruxundra Porojnicu hinted there is more to explore with her character.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
