CORONATION Street’s Emma Brooker begins a new romance storyline next week as a handsome new trainee doctor sweeps her off her feet – but Steve is quick to clash with him.

It was revealed at the end of 2020 that unlucky-in-love Emma – who is played by Alexandra Mardell – is set to get the man of her dreams in a huge new storyline.

It comes after her ex Seb met a tragic end after he and his goth girlfriend Nina Lucas were targeted in a brutal and unprovoked hate crime attack.

Next week, Emma is delighted when a good looking young man, Curtis, offers to help her move some barrels into the cellar.

But Steve isn’t thrilled when he finds Emma having a drink with Curtis later, and recognises him as the hooligan who knocked him off his bike and caused him to come last in the charity fundraiser.

Will Steve lock horns with Emma over her new love interest?

Later, Amy gently tells Steve he’s become a bit obsessed with fundraising and that he needs to relax before he suffers another breakdown.

Steve eventually agrees and tells Emma he’s going to spend more time concentrating on his family and, when Emma suggests doing some fundraising together, Steve is touched.

Steve tells Emma he’ll put things right with Curtis and apologises to him for his behaviour.

Curtis then mentions he’s got an interview at the bistro, and Emma and Steve put him through a mock interview.

Curtis says he’s training to be a doctor and Steve and Emma are impressed.

Speaking about Emma’s upcoming romance storyline, Corrie boss Ian MacLeod told The Sun at the end of last year: "There’s what I think will be a really brilliant storyline for Emma but I can’t talk about it in a lot of detail without giving it away.

"There’s a massive new love story for Emma. Emma wants her prince charming and she’s going to get her wish, but it’s going to be a very interesting version of her wish.

"She’s going to get the man of her dreams."
