Anthea Turner has opened up about her whirlwind engagement to Mark Armstrong after just five months together, insisting he is "the one".

The 59-year-old teased details of the upcoming wedding as she sat next to stepdaughter Lily Bovey on Lorraine today, who said that she approved of her fiancee.

Presenter Anthea split up from Lily's father Grant seven years ago after discovering his five-year fling with Zoe De Mallet Morgan, who was more than half his age.

He was dumped by his younger lover in 2017 after she reportedly caught him trying to hook up with women on a dating app.

Anthea found love with tycoon Mark earlier this year and he proposed to her in Rome.

Despite everything, Lily and Anthea have remained close and both went and had therapy after struggling to fix everything on their own.

"All of a sudden, I think Lily who had always seen me as a strong person, saw me wobble and crumble," Anthea explained to host Lorraine Kelly.

Lily said: "As we got older all the things happened with dad, it was nice to be friends with Anthea because we knew she hadn't done anything wrong."

"I think if Anthea had come to us about how annoying my dad was, I think that might have damaged our relationship with her," Lily added.

Asked about her most recent engagement, Anthea said: "I think when you get a little bit older you know what you don't want."

Probed about whether Mark was "the one", Anthea said that he was.

"I don't want to see you get hurt again," Lorraine responded.

"He's great, he's a bit more like me," Lily said. "A bit of a free thinker, a bit mental."

Anthea confirmed that they would get married next year but it wouldn't be a big affair, saying: "I think it's going to be friends and family."
