Jean Johansson has been a regular face on Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun for years now, setting up a number of holiday home hunters with their dream properties. Friday’s episode saw Jean take propective buyer Currina to Costa Calida in the north of Spain as she searched for her dream holiday home for a maximum budget of £80,000 alongside best pal Tracy. However, the task proved trickier than expected as Jean was on the receiving end of some rather harsh criticism.

Jean got off to a rocky start with the A Place in the Sun guests having received a lukewarm response to the first two properties.

But when it got to property number three in the region of Lo Pagan, Jean thought she’d cracked it – although was quickly proven wrong.

As the trio stood outside the apartment looking up, Currina was instantly left unimpressed.

“It’s not got much curb appeal,” Currina said, adding: “It’s not what I expected.”

Jean didn’t give up hope as she showed Tracy and Currina around what the apartment had to offer.

“This area is bustling,” Jean commented, with Currina having previously mentioned she’d prefer a busy area to live in.

Currina didn’t rubbish Jean’s third option outright, telling the A Place in the Sun host: “I am open-minded,” before entering the property.

Jean reeled off the details for the property, explaining: “It has its own private balcony, a sleek modern lounge and kitchen area with two bedrooms.”

Once inside, however, Currina and Tracy remained less than impressed with what they saw, although the latter was slightly more damning of the apartment.

“I see what you mean about the modern interior,” Currina commented as they took in the lounge area.

Noticing Tracy didn’t look impressed, however, Jean turned her attention to the home hunter’s pal.

“I hate it,” Tracy said as she brutally shut down Jean’s offer.

Tracy wasn’t done there as she continued: “I don’t like it at all,

“I couldn’t even stay here for a short period let alone buy it.”

Jean was taken aback by the damning criticism, hitting back: “Hate is a strong word.”

Although Currina eventually agreed with her friend, adding: “I wouldn’t buy it.”

Deflated by the critique, Jean admitted she had gotten the property “totally wrong”.

“I thought Currina is going to love this,” Jean confessed when she explained her thinking.

She added: “This puts me under pressure as to where to take you next. I was not expecting that.”

A Place in the Sun continues weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4.
