DAREN ANDERTON ended his stag-do in Marbella drowning his sorrows with fellow Spurs legend Teddy Sheringham – as they watched Liverpool win the Champions League final on TV at a popular showbiz restaurant.

It was definitely a case of highs and lows for the former Tottenham team-mates on the Costa del Sol trip for Anderton's upcoming wedding.

But during the party they were instead glued to the screens at La Sala in Puerto Banus as they saw Mo Salah's early penalty and sub Divock Origi's late drive sink their old club.

Striker Sheringham, 53 and wideman Anderton, 47, nicknamed 'Sicknote' due to his injury problems, linked up formidably at White Hart Lane during the 1990s.

But they saw Mauricio Pochettino's current-day Spurs team fail to hit it off when they needed it most.

The two pals caroused together at the trendy La Sala restaurant, which has become a favourite amongst sports stars and celebs like Anthony Joshua and Idris Elba.

But their party mood was dampened by what they saw beamed on the TV from elsewhere in Spain – Liverpool triumphing at Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

STAG DO TEARS

Anderson, who became a sports pundit after his playing days, is due to get married next week.

And apart from the pain of Spurs' loss he might also be red-faced, given his dodgy pre-match predictions.

Not only was the ex-England star convinced Tottenham would triumph, he also insisted they keys to victory were Christian Eriksen and putting Harry Kane straight back in the line-out after two months' out injured.

Ultimately, Eriksen was off the pace and Three Lions skipper Kane also had a quiet night as he stayed on throughout but was rated not fully fit by pundits.

Anderton said before kick-off: "Kane needs to start, Son has been a revelation this season, and Eriksen is the one for me who really makes everything tick for Spurs in terms of creating chances.

"Liverpool are favourites for obvious reasons, but it certainly feels that Spurs' name is on the trophy.

"They’ve had an incredible run. When it comes down to a one-off match, I would back Spurs on the day against anyone.”

Ex-Stevenage manager Sheringham, who last year coached West Bengal club ATK in the Indian Super League, also backed Tottenham.

So neither Spurs icon was the best man when it came to predictions.
