PSG and St Etienne are doing battle – quite literally in parts – for the Coupe de France in Paris.

This is the first competitive football played in France since March and Thomas Tuchel's men got off to an excellent start, with Neymar netting in the opening stages.

But after a mass brawl on the half hour mark, Kylian Mbappe left the field in TEARS due to injury while Loic Perrin was shown his marching orders.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

70, PSG have slowed down to almost a walking pace as they keep the ball.

This is a dangerous strategy, they're open to an equaliser.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

67, Khazri is down for St Etienne and this will be a worry.

They've used all three subs and are already down to 10 men. There's only three subs tonight, not five like we've seen in the Premier League.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

65, Twenty five minutes to go in this one and it's still a contest – credit to 10-man St Etienne for that.

PSG have looked lethargic and sluggish at best. Their not playing like the favourites or a team that has an extra player.

A slightly worried Thomas Tuchel knows this game isn't over yet.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

62, Neymar finds Sarabia again and the space opened up for him.

Sarabia tried to pick out Di Maria and Icardi at the far post with his cross, but it was cut out easily.

The offside flag was up anyway – it wouldn't have counted.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

57, Neymar with the wonderful stepover to leave it for Di Maria… who thrashes it just wide.

Sarabia pulled the ball back to the edge of the area with his cross from the right wing and Neymar was arriving.

The Brazilian dummied the ball and left it for Di Maria, but his left-foot shot from the edge of the box went inches wide of the post.

That could've been game, set and match.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

54, M'Vila was booked a few minutes ago for St Etienne in the build-up to that offside goal.

I make that nine bookings and a red card now. Tasty.

A nice moment, too, as Neymar tried to whip up support from the PSG fans in the stadium.

How refreshing to see actual humans in a stadium and hear real noise rather than simulations.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

51, Icardi has the ball in the net… but everyone had stopped as the offside flag was up.

The referee waited until he scored just in case VAR wanted to overturn.

But replays showed Neymar was a country mile offside.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

49, Handball shouts from St Etienne against Marquinhos but there's no way they're getting that.

Khazri volleyed the ball at him from less than a yard away and he tried to get his arm out of the way.

    No penalty, not even close.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

47, Optimistic effort from Khazri to try and catch Navas off his line after the goalkeeper's poor kick.

Khazri was right on the right wing and tried a lob with Navas off his line, but it sailed harmlessly over.

    That would've been some introduction.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

46, St Etienne kick us off in the second half.

They've made two more changes with Neyou and Khazri on for Kamara and Hamouma.

  • HERE WE GO AGAIN

Right, we have players on the pitch, and we're ready for the second half.

  • RECAP

Here's the goal for you again.

PSG will be heavy favourites now. A goal up and a man up. They were much fancied before that turn of events to be fair to them.

  • HT: PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

    We've reached half-time and it's much needed.

This game threatened to boil over and get out of hand with that sending off for Perrin and Mbappe leaving the field in tears.

But we've made it to the interval with PSG leading through Neymar's early strike.

In truth, PSG have been pretty average and scored with their first and one of their only attacks.

Both teams are having a breather, and I need one too…

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

45, Neymar with an exquisite ball to Icardi and he takes a shot from a tight angle.

But it's beaten away with his foot by the goalkeeper at his near post.

He was almost caught out there by the near-post shot.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

45, It looks like a straight swap for PSG with Sarabia going up top to join Icardi having come on for Mbappe.

Neymar and Di Maria are providing the width.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

45, SEVEN minutes of injury time.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

44, It looks like both teams have just regained their composure after that wild few minutes.

There will be a hefty chunk of added time coming up here.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

    42, A picture that tells a thousand words…

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

40, Moukoudi was replaced by Macon just after the red card in a bit of a reshuffle for St Etienne.

I think both teams need to see the half-time whistle and calm things down a bit.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

37, Kamara booked for a shocking tackle on Paredes. That could've been really nasty.

This is getting out of hand.

The referee is having a word with both captains, there's malice and spite here.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

34, Well then, back to football and Neymar takes the resulting free-kick, but it goes wide.

That was dramatic to say the least.

Hopefully for Mbappe he won't miss the Champions League next month.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

33, And Mbappe is walking around the edge of the pitch gingerly with a tear in his eye.

    He's been replaced by Sarabia.

    What a shame.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

    32, Perrin is SENT OFF.

The referee looked at VAR and upgraded that booking to a red and St Etienne are down to 10 men.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

30, The referee is taking a look at VAR – maybe for the foul on Mbappe or maybe for the melee.

I think there were five bookings as a result of the pushing match.

  • PSG 1-0 ST ETIENNE

28, Mbappe has spent a lot of time on the ground after that injury and that is a worrying sign.

It looked like a rough challenge from Perrin and replays show Mbappe's ankle tweak.
