INDONESIA'S Olympic badminton champs have been rewarded withcows, a meatball restaurant, a house and £250,000 in cash to go with their gold medals.

Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu won the women's doubles on Monday and they will live like royalty when they return home.

Indonesia is badminton-mad and the two women cemented their hero status by beating China's Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan 21-19 21-15 in Monday's final.

They gave Indonesia its first gold of the Tokyo Games.

And residents in the Asian country have come out in their droves to show their appreciation.

The country's government has stumped up the £250k reward amid a reported Covid-linked drop in people playing the sport.

Apriyani hails from the Sulawesi island and the district chief from her hometown has promised five cows upon her return.
