Since his birth on May 6, 2019 — Duchess Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have only given the public tiny glimpses of their delightful bundle of joy, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. A few days after the baby royal’s birth —we saw snaps of the Sussexes introducing their first-born child to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip as well as Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland.
Since then, we’ve only seen the tiny tike a couple more times, once from photos of his July 2019 christening, and more recently during the Sussexes October 2019 royal tour in South Africa. In those photos and videos, we watched a cheery Baby Archie smile and dance as he met Archbishop Desmond Tutu. We also discovered that he looks exactly like Prince Harry — red hair and all.
Though we’re all eager to see more of the bubbly baby — like Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton, it appears that Markle and Prince Harry will continue to be cautious when showcasing their little one in public.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are stepping away from the public
As they’ve tried to define themselves as a modern royal couple, Markle and Prince Harry have faced backlash. Markle, more than anyone because of her American nationality and mix-raced heritage, has faced bullying and harassment from the public and the press. Things have gotten so bad that the duke and duchess are currently suing Mail on Sunday and it’s publishers for treating Markle so horrible.
All of the scrutiny has also caused the pair to retreat from the spotlight. At present, they are enjoying a six-week hiatus from their royal duties where they are said to be visiting Markle’s mother in Los Angeles. “The Duke and Duchess have a full schedule of engagements and commitments until mid-November, after which they will be taking some much-needed family time,” an insider told Sunday Times.
Royal experts have suggested that upon their return, the pair will have a new strategy when it comes to approaching royal life.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex want Archie Harrison to have a “normal childhood”
When they chose not to bestow Baby Archie with a royal title upon his birth, it became clear that Prince Harry and Markle wanted their son to enjoy growing up out of the public eye as much as possible. Unlike Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, whose father will one day be king — Archie won’t have those same rules and constraints on his life.
This is the next royal event where Archie Harrison will be present
Though Markle and Prince Harry may choose to post photos of their firstborn son over the Christmas holiday and then again for his first birthday in May 2020 — we doubt very much that we will be seeing much of Baby Archie in public until June 2020. Royal experts believe that the little Sussex will make his first royal appearance at Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday celebration Trooping of Colour. At the celebration, we expect to see him in his mother’s arms as he looks at the massive crowds from the Buckingham Palace balcony. The queen’s birthday parade is June 13, 2020.
It is said that the pair are also hoping for another baby in 2020, so Archie might even have a sibling on the way by then.
