DEAR DEIDRE: WE’VE not had sex since my husband got circumcised a year ago.

I’m 40 and he’s 35. We’ve been together for five years.

At first, our sex life was great. Then he started to have problems. His foreskin was too tight and I got him to see a doctor, who said he needed to be circumcised.

I thought our sex life would go back to normal after he had healed but it has been worse than ever.

He kisses and cuddles me but when I make a move to go further, he recoils.

I have a healthy sex drive and don’t know what to do. I need intimacy but he won’t even discuss it.

DEIDRE SAYS: Men should be able to resume sex six weeks after a circumcision. He might be anxious that it will hurt or perhaps things feel different to him.

But he needs to know how this lack of sex is affecting you. Try talking to him again.

Ask him to see his doctor again to check everything is as it should be. Couples’ counselling could help. See my support pack on Counselling for more information.
