Slipknot recently shared an eight-and-a-half minute video paying tribute to their former drummer Joey Jordison, who died on July 26 at the age of 46.
The touching tribute video includes clips of Jordison on stage and in interviews as well as candid backstage footage.
“Our hearts go out to Joey’s family and loved ones at this time of tremendous loss. Joey Jordison’s art, talent, and spirit could not be contained or be held back,” Slipknot says in a statement at the start of the video.
“Joey’s impact on Slipknot, on our lives, and on the music that he loved, is incalculable,” the band adds. “Without him there would be no us. We mourn his loss with the entire Slipknot family. We love you, Joey.”
Jordison helped found Slipknot in 1995 along with percussionist Shawn Crahan and bassist Paul Gray and performed with the band until parting ways in 2013.
A statement from Jordison’s family said the “prolific drummer, musician and artist passed away peacefully in his sleep.”
