Love Island star Michael Griffiths has revealed he’s dating a “mystery woman” who is “in the limelight” after meeting her while filming for Ex On The Beach.

The 28 year old former firefighter revealed he “formed a relationship that is really decent” with the unknown star, but didn’t reveal their identity, insisting fans would find out when they watch the new series of Ex On The Beach in January.

Speaking to The Sun Online, he said: “All will be revealed when the show is aired in January, but I made some really close friends in there and formed a relationship that’s really decent.

“I’m not IN a relationship but there could potentially be one in time.”

Although he didn’t reveal the woman’s identity, he did say they have continued to spend time together after filming wrapped up.

He added: “It’s a mystery woman – she’s in the limelight. I’m pretty sure everyone knows who it is already. We spend more time together now.

“But there is definitely potential for something to progress.”

Michael revealed he is taking a different approach with this romance than he did with previous flames.

“I’ve learnt from past mistakes,” he said. “Like rushing into things. Timing is everything to me because of the friendship we have built.

“I don’t want to ruin that by rushing into anything else, and because I live in London and she lives in Manchester, there’s some distance there so we’re just seeing how things go right now.”

He added: “She was someone else’s ex who was on the show with me. We just got on like a house on fire.

“This certain woman helped me open up and you’ll see as time goes on during the show that I open up a lot more.”

And, while the plot of Ex On The Beach sees confrontations and tensions rise between exes and new flames, Michael insisted his situation was different.

He said: “Her ex was sound. He’s a lovely lad.”

And a new love interest isn’t the only thing the Liverpool-based hunk hopes to take from his experience on the MTV reality show.

The reality star recently revealed his hopes to replenish his reputation after his failed romances with Joanna Chimonides and Amber Gill were played out on Love Island earlier this year.

Speaking to The Mirror recently, he said: “In Love Island I was portrayed quite negatively, I was shown to be this person that I'm not.

“So people tend to think I'm an a******e, and I'm not. You'll see a completely different side to me and I won't come across as some kind of villain.

“In Ex On The Beach I'm a lot more open that I was on Love Island about how I'm feeling, and that's hard for me because I've been a closed guy since I was a teenager.

“So for me to open up and tell someone how I feel and when something's not right and explain why it's not right, that's a lot for me.”
