Former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson, 36, has hit back at her husband-to-be’s approach to teaching their baby daughter how to swim. Taking to social media, the fitness guru revealed that her and fiancé Gorka Marquez, 30, did not see eye to eye over where would be best to teach their nearly two-year-old daughter Mia how to swim. Gemma said her Spanish beau would have liked to teach their daughter in the ocean, before quickly shutting the idea down.

Earlier in the day the radio presenter took to Instagram stories to address a milestone for her daughter.
In view of her 1.6 million followers, she said: “Mia has her first @waterbabies lesson today!
“So excited for her, Gorks is going in with her (swimming is his thing with growing up on the beach and all that) I’ll be sat poolside crying reminding him not to let go of her.”(sic)
Gemma went on to admit that she was worried about her daughter’s first lesson as Mia hates having her head covered in water.
Reaching out for assurance, the star continued: “Anyone else’s little ones started recently?
“I’m worried Mia might cry as she HATES having her hair washed.”
Gemma then expanded on Mia’s swimming lessons in the next few slides.
After being inundated with messages of support from fans, the star thanked her followers for their reassurance.
Gemma said: “Thank you for that, that’s making me feel loads better.”
The former Strictly contestant candidly admitted that her worries stem from her own fear of water.
“It’s because I’m not a very good swimmer, I’m quite scared of water,” she bravely revealed.
“I can swim, don’t get me wrong, but I’d much rather – If I’ve got a lilo I’m fine.”
Gemma went on to reveal that in comparison, her fiance is a strong swimmer.
“Gorka’s a really good swimmer because obviously he grew up on a beach. He can swim for ages”, she said.
The star went on to reveal her partner’s interesting approach to teaching their daughter how to swim – before brutally shutting it down.
She said: “He actually said to me, ‘If we were in Spain I would teach her in the sea’.
“And I went, ‘No you f*****g wouldn’t!'” the actress said while bursting into laughter.
The star followed up with a sweet snap of her daughter sitting on the edge of the pool in a pink swimsuit.
Gorka had one arm placed affectionately around Mia while holding onto hers with the other.
In the caption, Gemma revealed that Mia’s first swimming lesson went well: “First session @waterbabies was a success!! Mia loved it (a few tears at the start) but within minutes she was like a mermaid.
“Papa did ok too @gorka_marquez”, she added with a laughing face emoji.
