Busted star Matt Willis, 38, has dashed fans’ hopes over him making an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing in the future. The rockstar candidly said that he’d ruled out the idea of appearing on the programme, as he “couldn’t cope with that kind of pressure”.

There’s not a chance that I’d be able to cope with that kind of pressure

Addressing his Strictly prospects, the star frankly admitted that he wouldn’t be competing for the coveted glitterball trophy anytime soon.

Matt said: “The idea of Strictly terrifies me.

“I’ve been asked a few times and always said no,” he revealed.

The guitarist told how the idea of having the nation watch him take to the dance floor puts him off.

He continued: “Can you imagine standing there and suddenly you hear, ‘Tonight, dancing the cha-cha-cha, it’s Matt Willis!”

“You know something like 12 million people are watching – no thanks.”

Matt went on to share how he thinks he has “no chance” of being able to cope mentally with the pressure of performing multiple dances a week.

“There’s not a chance that I’d be able to cope with that kind of pressure,” he admitted to OK! Magazine.

Despite ruling out taking part in the BBC show, Matt has recently landed a role in the musical Waitress, in a touring production which starts at the New Wimbledon Theatre later this year.

The Busted star is also set to appear in World War II movie Wolves Of War after appearing in Birds of a Feather and EastEnders.

However, following his former McBusted bandmate Harry Judd’s Strictly win in 2011, Matt previously revealed how he was determined to follow in his footsteps.

“There’ll be some sort of dancing show in my future, I am sure. Not this year, but it’s a given isn’t it? At some point,” he said.

But in 2016, his wife of 13 years Emma admitted she was reluctant to let her other half take part in Strictly.

The former Big Brother presenter admitted: “I’m a jealous person. If my husband is around a younger, good-looking woman, I’m like, ‘Stop looking at them.'”

However, Emma confessed that her musician husband would make an incredible dancer for a Strictly pro to work with.

“Matt could do Strictly, because he’s an amazing dancer,” she revealed.

Emma continued: “Every now and then he will bust out a pirouette in the middle of the living room and our daughter will be like, ‘Wow, Daddy!’”

Despite her confidence in Matt’s dance abilities, Emma firmly put her foot down, as he would have to get up close and personal with the Strictly pros during routines.

“But I don’t want him grinding against hot women,” she said.

Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to BBC next month.
