Reality star and wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin recently tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Chandler Powell. The Dancing with the Stars champ recently took to Instagram announcing a new family member is on the way.

Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell push up their wedding date

Irwin is no stranger to social media, often keeping her followers apprised of major moments in her life. When she and Powell decided to hold a small, intimate wedding ceremony in March instead of the lavish event they originally planned due to the coronavirus crisis, the Animal Planet star shared the news on Instagram.

“We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend. There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now,” she captioned the photo of herself and Powell on Instagram. “We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have guests at our wedding. This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe.”

Irwin posted her vows in April, verbalizing her devotion to her new spouse and partner in life.

March 25th 2020 ❤️ We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend. There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now. We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have guests at our wedding. This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe. We wish all of our friends and family could have been there with us, however it’s lovely that we will be able to share photos and videos. Right now we’re encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward during this profound time in history. Today we celebrated life and revelled in every beautiful moment we shared together in our Australia Zoo gardens. Mum helped me get ready, Robert walked me down the aisle, Chandler became my husband and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory. We shared tears and smiles and love. Thankfully, since we all live at Australia Zoo as a family, we could be there for each other. To everyone reading this – stay safe, social distance and remember LOVE WINS!

“You validate what unconditional love really means. You’ve been my best friend for over six years,” she wrote in her Instagram post. “You’ve made me smile every day since I first met you. That’s amazing and so are you. My husband, my teammate and partner in conservation. To quote our favourite show, ‘I love you and I like you.’”

A baby for Bindi and Chandler

Once again choosing to break some news to her 3.6 million followers on Instagram, Irwin delivered a special message on August 11.

“Baby Wildlife Warrior due 2021. Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting!” the DWTS winner captioned a post of the couple holding up an infant-sized khaki shirt. “It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you. Though I’m still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter.”

Irwin requested continued support from her fan base as she and Powell enter this new chapter of their lives.

“We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives,” the Crikey! It’s the Irwins star wrote. “Your support means the world to us. Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart. Love & light.”

Bindi Irwin’s family posts their congrats

Irwin’s family has been a strong unit since she was a child. When her father, famous crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, was tragically killed by a stingray in September 2006, Irwin along with her mom Terri and brother Robert continued to keep his memory alive through their tireless work in animal conservation. Terri memorialized her late husband in her post congratulating the young couple.

“This is the best day ever! I am over the moon to announce that @BindiIrwin and @chandlerpowell9 are going to have a baby!” she wrote on Twitter. “Words cannot express the love that is filling my heart. While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud.”

Also expressing his well wishes on social media, Irwin’s 16-year-old brother congratulated the newlyweds and shared his joy of becoming an uncle.

“The most exciting news ever! I am so happy for Bindi and Chandler to be welcoming a new member of the family. I can’t believe I’m going to be an uncle!!!” Robert wrote on Instagram. “It’s such a happy time for our family – I look forward to this brilliant new chapter and all the fun adventures ahead with a new little Wildlife Warrior!”

Congratulations to the happy couple!
