Tank-like Anthony "Staz" Stazicker is rumoured to be replacing Ant Middleton on SAS: Who Dares Wins.
The former Royal Marine started out in the hit Channel 4 reality show as a "mole" but then revealed himself to be a Directing Staff member last week.
The show is designed to replicate the gruelling SAS selection process.
Staz, now 37, joined the military when he was just 20 and became a sniper with the Royal Marines before joining the Special Boat Service in 2008 and serving for a decade.
He has spoken previously about how losing his mother at a young age was a "deciding factor" in how he lived his life.
Staz said: "I’d say my life’s biggest slap in the face was when my mum suddenly passed away. I was about 11, it was totally unexpected, it was a brain haemorrhage.
"I remember spending a few days in the hospital, not really understanding what was going on.
"It made me quite resentful, quite angry, but I think it also gave me a purpose, a fire, something to prove and do somebody proud."
Meanwhile, Channel 4 cut ties with former captain Ant Middleton earlier this year over his "personal conduct" on the set of the production.
Speaking on the James Smith Podcast, Ant said: "I have to suppress a part of me to fit in, which I don’t like doing and I won’t do as you’ve probably seen but here you’ve got that balance that right."
Ant has also claimed that he was the victim of a "witch hunt" and that the UK is "too PC".

The dad-of-five now plans to move to Australia and front the Ozzie version of SAS.
He said: "I’ve got a great connection with Australia. My wife also loves Australia.
"She did a gap year out here when she was young. She’s always said, ‘Let’s move to Australia’, So when SAS Australia came up, I was like, ‘Let’s see the layout, let’s see how it goes’.
"We’ve sort of made a decision to move out here next year."
Ant is married to Emilie, who he met at a bar in Essex when she was 24. She told The Sun: "It was love at first sight.
"He was so cheeky and funny, as well as good-looking and muscular, and I knew he was The One."
