DONALD Trump slammed the New York Times over a report claiming his campaign duped donors into giving extra cash without consent.

The former president slammed the report as a "completely misleading, one-sided attack piece" before going on to repeat his widely disproven claim about voter fraud in the 2020 election.

Trump accused the outlet of writing the hit piece to "disparage" his campaign's "record-setting grassroots fundraising operation."

"Except for the massive voter fraud, this was a campaign that was easily won by your favorite Republican president, me!," he continued.

He went on to say that his campaign learned from the Democrats' ActBlue to gather small donations — "and now we're better than they are!'

"In fact, many people were so enthusiastic that they gave over and over, and in certain cases where they would give too much, we would promptly refund their contributions."

The Times' story alleges that the Trump campaign automatically set up donors to make contributions weekly, instead of just once, and made the option to opt out of recurring donations increasingly difficult to find.

In Trump's statement, he pointed out that Democrats end up having to return some campaign donations, too.

What he didn't note, however, is that while Joe Biden's 2020 campaign had to issue 37,000 online refunds, totaling $5.6million, Trump's campaign had to issue a whopping 530,000, totaling $64.3million.

The company the Trump campaign used to process online donations, WinRed, ended up refunding 10.7 precent of the money it raise in 2020.

By comparison, ActBlue, which Biden's campaign used, refunded 2.2 percent, according to federal records.

The former president went on to attack The Times for "burying" details about Democrats making returns in the story, before again alleging that the election was stolen from him.

"Our fundraising efforts, working together with the Republican party, were all done legally, and all with the goal of ensuring that my Administration could continue to Make America Great Again," he continued.

"The Election on the other hand, was massively rigged and stolen—and now look what is happening to our Country, and in particular at our southern border.

"If you are one of the record-setting 75 million Americans who voted for me, donated or volunteered, THANK YOU! The best is yet to come!"
