Tories unleash secret weapon on Easington! PR girl who loves partying with MPs and was pictured bathing in MILK is standing in ex-mining area that’s been a Labour stronghold for nearly 70 years

  • Grahame Morris has been MP since 2010 and considered Labour’s safest sea

  • Vocal supporter of friend Carrie Symonds and Theresa May while she was PM

A PR executive friend of Boris Johnson’s girlfriend Carrie Symonds who was pictured bathing in milk is the latest young Tory general election candidate hoping to steal a seat from Jeremy Corbyn by pledging to ‘get Brexit done’.

Clare Ambrosino will try to win the Easington seat in County Durham on December 12 – a mining area that has always returned a Labour MP since the constituency was formed in 1950.

Miss Ambrosino, a senior account manager for London communications business Newington, faces an uphill battle to beat Labour’s Grahame Morris, who has been Easington MP since 2010 and has a 15,000 majority after gaining 67 per cent of the vote in 2017.

The 31-year-old is a well known face in Tory circles in Westminster and has spent time working or partying with many of the party’s recent past and present MPs including Sajid Javid, Michael Gove, James Cleverly, Liz Truss, Liam Fox and George Osborne.

While pursuing her passions such as conservation, she has also supported her friend Carrie Symonds at various anti-whaling events and also backed Carrie as her love affair with Boris Johnson was revealed.

Away from work she is happy to share photos of herself holidaying in Italy, partying with friends and one extraordinary image of herself bathing in milk – although it is unclear if it is a painting or a photograph taken using an Instagram filter.

Easington: The ‘ultra safe’ Labour seat the Tories hope to win for the first time

Category: Ultra-safe Labour seat

Geography: County Durham council area including Seaham, Peterlee, Easington.

Profile: A traditional coal mining seat on the Durham coast. It consists of small former colliery towns and villages and the two towns of Seaham and Peterlee – a new town rapidly built in the 1950s to house coal miners. The final mines closed in the early nineties and the area suffers from the long term economic problems associated with many former mining areas as they struggle with the transition to alternative sources of employment.

Politics: Easington is one of the safest Labour seats in the country – in good years for the party they can obtain over seventy percent of the vote here and it has been held by the party since 1922, its MPs including some of the most influential figures in Labour history – Sidney Webb, Ramsay MacDonald and Manny Shinwell.

The PR executive is prolific on social media, posting images of her life including her posing outside No 10 Downing Street and on the campaign trail with fellow Tories.

Clare helped form the Women 4 Westminster group in 2017 – providing election support to Conservative women candidates – and was a vocal supporter of Theresa May as her premiership crumbled and Boris Johnson maneuvered to replace her.

And she also offered her support to Carrie Symonds as her relationship with twice-married Mr Johnson emerged, saying the now Prime Minister’s partner was the victim of ‘misogyny’.

Clare, whose first job in politics was working in Brussels for Irish MEP Sean Kelly, also joined Carrie on recent anti-whaling protests in London, posing together in Parliament Square.

She holds a degree in Politics and Philosophy and in her time away from politics she sings, enjoys reading and is a keen rower on the Thames.

The Oxford Brookes graduate was recently named among the top 30 most inspiring women in public affairs because of her Women 4 Westminster group.

Her support for women has been vocal and recently signed an open letter defending Carrie Symonds after allegations of her affair with Boris emerged.

The note, also signed by a number of MPs including Nicky Morgan, called the media focus on Carrie after she started seeing the Prime Minister ‘disturbing’.

And when Theresa May was leading the country, she also defended her after an infamous and disastrous Tory conference speech in 2017.

Mrs May had to stop several times to drink water as her voice failed, needing then chancellor Philip Hammond to give her a throat sweet.

Then a heckler handed her a P45 before the Conservative slogan written behind her fell down.

Clare said she ‘wanted to hug her’ when it all went wrong, calling the incident ‘unbearably uncomfortable watching’.

She wrote: ‘Part of me felt like running out of the room, as the show made for unbearably uncomfortable watching.

‘The other half wanted to hug the Prime Minister, who was struggling more and more, as series of small catastrophes were developing around her’.

And as the PM’s voice failed she said she believed a man would have given in.

She said: ‘How many men with man flu would have even shown face, after all? How many would have sacrificed their egos and gone ahead till the very end?’

And when presented with the p45 by the prankster she added: ‘Why was he allowed a photo-op with Boris Johnson, who some say is out to replace Mrs May? The Prime Minister should never have found herself in that position’.
