A 23-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed for ten years after kidnapping and raping a Brit backpacker in a horrific two-month ordeal.

Marcus Allyn Keith Martin, who has tattoos across his face, was caught after Elisha Greer, then 22, was rescued from the nightmare 900-mile road trip through the Australian outback.

ABC News reported he had been jailed today via video link in Cairns District Court, told he must serve at least 80 per cent of his sentence.

He had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of rape and one count of deprivation of liberty,

The court heard the pair had met at a dance party in Far North Queensland in January 2017 – quickly forming a relationship.

However, police alleged Martin, who has tattoos on his cheeks including tear drops, then turned violent and kidnapped the young woman and held her for two months.

During the kidnapping ordeal, Martin was said to have choked his victim as he told her it was "time to go to sleep". He also chocked her with her own handbag.

Prosecutors also told the court he had thrown away her birth control pills "so she would never leave him because she would have his child".

It wasn't until she drove off from a petrol station without paying in Mitchell, south-west Queensland, in March 2017 that she was rescued.

Staff at the petrol station raised concerns with police before she was picked up.

HELL ON EARTH

Elisha has previously spoken out over the ordeal, saying: "He just seemed like a nice guy, and I just chatted away to him. He seemed fun.

"He didn’t seem like a psycho, to say the least. He just seemed like a normal guy at the time."

But she revealed how Martin flipped – saying he just "started hitting me" after they booked a room in Cairns.

The young woman, from Liverpool, said: "I was forced to drive the car with a gun to my head. I thought he would kill me."

A petrol station boss spotted the young woman when she stopped to refuel – noticing her black eyes.

Beverley Page said: "I asked her if her black eyes were due to her ex-boyfriend and she nodded."

Beverley alerted cops and pulled Elisha over at a traffic stop.
