A SCHOOLGIRL was raped and beaten so badly that her dead body was found with her “brain leaking” out of her cracked skull, it has been reported.

Janika Mallo, 14, had her head bashed by a brick while her body was found with her clothes pulled down at her grandmother’s home in Cape Town, South Africa.

Her family said they saw “her brain leaking” out of her head when her body was found on Sunday, reports say.

Police probing the murder are investigating a group of young men “known for their mischief” in the Heinz Park area of the city.

The 14-year-old distraught mother told local news outlet IOL that she had argued with her daughter and slapped her face the last time she saw her.

She said: “I smacked her in her face and told her she cannot go to the soccer club's event in Portland, and that was the last I saw her alive.

BEATEN TO DEATH

“The last thing I gave my child was a smack across her face.

“She was on her way home as far as I know when last I heard from her and her friends.”

Her devastated father told local media that she may have been knocked unconscious before she was sexually assaulted.

Janika’s body was found on Sunday morning although it is not clear why she was at her grandmother’s home.

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

Violence against women has dominated the news agenda in South Africa recently.

Earlier this month, a 19-year-old University of Cape Town student Uyinene Mrwetyana was raped and murdered at a post office.

A 42-year-old man has been charged with murdering the teen who was bludgeoned to death with the post office scales.

Both cases have sent shockwaves through the country and prompted protests calling for the government to take action to stop horrific sexual violence against women.

In 2018, South Africa saw a 6.9 per cent increase in its nationwide murder rate with an average of 57 murders per day.

And in a country of 57 million people, there are at least 137 sexual assaults carried out every day.
