A NURSERY where a one-year-old boy died and a toddler allegedly came home with blood in his hair has been shut down by Ofsted.

Six women were arrested over the youngster's "suspicious" death at Fairytales Day Nursery in Dudley, West Midlands, last year.

The childcare centre had its licence suspended following the December 9 tragedy as it suspected kids were potentially "at risk of harm".

This suspension was extended twice in three months until it was closed for good at the end of March.

Inspectors said: "We have issued a notice of intention to cancel the provider's registration because we believe them to be no longer suitable to be registered.

"The provider has the right to object to our intention."

Four days after the tot's death, Ofsted received concerns that Fairytales was failing to meet several safeguarding and welfare requirements.

During a site visit, it was found that staff failed to frequently check on sleeping babies and risks assessments were not being carried out.

Employees caring for babies were also not appropriately trained, and children's individual needs were not being met, the latest report suggests.

Separately, a mum claimed her four-year-old son came home from Fairytales with "blood in his hair".

Neelam Amgad, 33, said she asked workers what happened and, after denying it was anything to do with them, the manager later admitted he was injured on their watch.

She demanded to see CCTV of the incident, but was reportedly only shown "two seconds" of the moment little Abdulrehman allegedly hit his head on a table.

Neelam added of the nursery, which one parent pays £2,300 a month for: "Every day I see the children look a bit scared and not happy."

Another mum, 26, said she too had concerns and had pulled both of her kids out.

She claimed her eldest would come home hungry "everyday" and "often they had not changed his nappy".

Three women aged 20, 23 and 50 were arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter following the boy's death.

They have since been released on bail while police enquiries continue.

A further three women aged 51, 53 and 37 were then held, two on suspicion of corporate manslaughter and one of gross negligence manslaughter, but they have also been bailed.
