A NEWBORN baby appears to have been put up for sale for $500 in a shocking Craigslist advert.

Police are hunting down the culprit behind the ad – which offered the baby and threw in the child's four-year-old sister for free.

The mysterious poster advertised the two-week-old baby complete with formula and clothes, in Florida's Miami-Dade County, reports the Miami Herald.
"Selling brand newborn baby for $500," the since-removed ad read.

"Baby is 2weeks [sic] old. It sleeps, don't make noise at night. Formula and clothes will give to you. Can give you the baby 4 year old sister for free."

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement opened an investigation last Friday shortly after the listing was posted, an FDLE spokesperson confirmed.

Authorities are trying to determine whether someone is actually trying to sell a child or if the ad is nothing more than an obscene hoax.

The FDLE didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from The Sun.

Agents have interviewed a woman they suspect may have been behind the listing, but she denied any involvement.

Computer records could be used to track down the culprit, police said.

The original poster allegedly works for the "department of children and families" and claims to live in a "quiet influential neighborhood."

Despite the crude advertisement, the individual noted they "don't wanna be judged for not wanting these kids."

There have been multiple attempts of adults trying to auction off children within the past decade.

Miami mom Kenia Quiala Bosque attempted to sell her eight-month-old son to a man she knew in the Florida Keys in 2011.

Bosque lost custody of her children and served 180 days in jail on a charge of felony adoption violation.

A Staten Island man tried to sell his girlfriend's two-month-old daughter for $100 on Craigslist in 2013 as revenge for not paying attention to him.

A Dallas woman, Elaine Williams tried to buy a baby for her 14-year-old daughter by placing an ad on Craigslist in 2015.

Williams allegedly told police she placed the ad because "her daughter wanted a baby and would get one with or without her help, so she decided to help."

In 2017, a Tennessee couple attempted to sell their five-month-old baby for $3,000 on the popular listings website.

An undercover agent busted the pair when they tried to hand off their child at a nearby Dollar General store, and they were arrested on a host of charges, including child abuse and aggravated child neglect.
