Three thugs posing as Border Agency officials wearing black attack man, 63, on his doorstep before he dies of his injuries 17 days later – as police launch murder probe

Police have launched a murder investigation after a 63-year-old man died 17 days on from being attacked on his doorstep by three men posing as Border Agency officials.
Emergency services were called after the victim was brutally assaulted outside his home in Highfield Road, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, on November 25.
The man had answered the door to three males wearing black, who claimed to be from the Border Agency, sometime between 8.45pm and 10pm.
The thugs – one armed with a screwdriver – then attacked the man leaving him with serious injuries during the suspected botched robbery.

The victim was taken to hospital where he sadly died on Monday morning prompting detectives to launch a murder probe.
Northamptonshire Police said it was unknown whether the suspects were in a vehicle or on foot after have urged any witnesses to get in touch.
Detective Chief Inspector Adam Pendlebury, said: ‘I would urge everyone in the local area to review any CCTV, doorbell or dash cam footage they might have which could help our investigation.
‘No matter how small you think it is, let us know about it so we can review it.
‘Specially trained officers are supporting the victim’s family at this time and my thoughts are with them as they come to terms with this awful news.
‘Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be patrolling the area today and anyone in the local area with any concerns is welcome to approach one of these officers who will be happy to help.’
