A MUM screamed her fiancé's name as she fell to her death in front of her kids while on a waterfall walk.

An inquest today heard that Carly Farrington, 40, fell more than 30ft after losing her footing on loose ground.

Mum-of-three Carly, from Bristol, was visiting the beauty spot with her family when the tragedy occurred on the Four Waterfalls Walk near Ystradfellte in the Brecon Beacons.

She was airlifted to University Hospital Wales in Cardiff but died of her injuries on May 17 last year, two days after the fall and the same day as her daughter's tenth birthday.

Carly ran her own estate agent business, called Carly & Co, and was engaged to her partner Joshua.

Writing about her death online, he said: "I glanced back when I heard Carly screaming my name as she slipped on loose ground to the waterfall below.

"My daughters didn’t see her fall but were haunted by my reaction.

"I got them tucked into the hill before I ran down to find Carly unresponsive and with significant injuries to her body and head.

"The air ambulance and coastguard were called, and my sister and I carried my kids off the hill."

Joshua added that he spent two days by her bedside and even asked the hospital chaplain to marry them, though no ceremony could be completed as she never regained consciousness.

Coroner Patricia Morgan returned a verdict of accidental death.

Ms Morgan added: "She sustained a catastrophic head injury and sadly despite extensive medical efforts including helicopter transfer, neurology care, and intensive care she did not survive."

Joshua is planning to walk from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise money for the Welsh Air Ambulance in Carly's memory.
