A MAN has been charged with the murder of a woman who was seriously assaulted at a home in front of a "number of children".

Alison Bowen, 41, died after the horror unfolded in the Kingswood area of Bristol on Monday afternoon.

Avon and Somerset Police have now charged Darryl Bowen, 43, with her murder.

He is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court today.

Police were scrambled to the scene at around 3.50pm where Alison was found with serious injuries.

Tragically she couldn't be saved and was declared dead at the scene.

The children inside were said to be "distressed" but were thankfully unharmed.

Senior Investigating Officer Neil Meade said: “Although formal identification has not yet been carried out, we believe the deceased to be Alison Bowen, aged 41.

“Alison’s family have been updated on this significant development, and specialist liaison officers will continue to support them. Our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time.

“We’ll continue to carry out a full and thorough investigation as this case progresses.
