AN INJURED driver has made a miracle escape after he climbed out of a crashed car moments before it exploded into a fireball.

In shocking footage, a car can be seen speeding along the road then crashing into a footpath and flipping upside-down.

The accident happened on a highway near Bowes Road in Vaughan, a city in Ontario, Canada.

Shortly after the crash, the footage shows an injured man climbing out of his smashed car and limping away to observe the scene from the opposite footpath.

He stands there with two other men and seems to be explaining the crash to them, when moments later, both cars explode into a massive fireball.

All three men jump back in shock and run from the seen.

Dark smoke can be seen billowing out into the air while the fire raging on the two cars continues.

Firefighters, emergency services and the police all appeared on scene to assist after the accident, spraying the car with water and protecting onlookers from the scene.

The location of the accident and the identity of the man driving the car are both unknown.
