A BODYBUILDING legend revealed how a cunning trick to look old at competitions helped him beat his younger opponents.

At 53, Dexter "The Blade" Jackson is still one of the biggest names in the gym but his latest tournament bombshell has left fans stunned.



The retired IFBB professional bodybuilder has 29 major wins under his belt and also holds the record for 20 Mr Olympia appearances.

But, according to Essentially Sports – the veteran is currently recovering from stem cell surgery.

Nevertheless, Dexter was seen pumping iron in a YouTube video as he prepared for his next title.

During the clip, the jacked man told viewers how he deceived his rivals by keeping his beard intact during builds.

He said: "The reason why I did that is because I like to play games with the competitors.

"I wanted to look like an old man, like old homeless dude."

Dexter admitted there was a psychological element to his trick.

He added: "When I walk into the meeting and I'm like this, they're like 'damn I’m about to get my ass whooped by an old man'."

However, the bodybuilding icon also claimed he was more dialled in on his training than the appearance of his facial hair.

He said: "I didn't worry about cutting my beard off or nothing like that when I was in that focused move."

Dexter's long-spanning winning streak has marvelled the fitness world for decades.

The Florida man is also one of only four bodybuilders to have won both Mr Olympia and Arnold Classic titles.

Recent footage of Dexter looking ripped stunned fans and other professionals on social media.

"In all the retired bodybuilders you are the one in best shape," an Instagram user said.

"Getting ready to bring home another Arnold," one said.

"You are still in better shape than most would ever get to in the life," a second said.

"Jacked, stacked and ready to react," another said.

At 45, he was the oldest person on record to win the Arnold Classic in 2015.
