AN EASYJET flight from Switzerland to London Gatwick was forced to divert to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport after a medical emergency was called on board.

Scheduled flight U28485 departed from Geneva at 9.35pm local time – but a problem was declared by pilots as the aircraft flew over Paris.


The airbus A320 was scheduled to land at London Gatwick at around 10.05pm.

A tweet at 9.29pm from the AIRLIVE account read: "UPDATE easyJet #U28485 to London Gatwick is diverting to Paris CDG http://radarbox24.com/flight/U28485."

But Easyjet have since confirmed the plane made an emergency landing at 22.39pm French time (9.39pm GMT) due to medical reason on board.

The flight tracker section of the Easyjet website read: "We're sorry that your flight has diverted to Charles De Gaulle airport.

"This is due to a passenger requiring further medical assistance. The disruption is beyond our control and is considered an extraordinary circumstance.

"Your crew will keep you up to date."

An official statement from an Easyjet spokesperson read: "We can confirm that flight EZY8485 from Geneva to London Gatwick diverted to Paris Charles de Gaulle due to a passenger on board requiring urgent medical assistance.

“The aircraft was met by medical services on arrival in Paris and the flight will continue onto London Gatwick shortly.

“The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew is always our highest priority.”
