Covidiot driver is blasted after crashing his car when he was distracted by a huge bug as he drove ten miles to walk his dog during lockdown

  • None of the passengers or the dog were hurt in the crash in Thatcham, Berkshire 

A driver has been slammed for crashing his car after becoming distracted by a large bug while going on a drive to walk his dog during coronavirus lockdown. 

The ‘covidiot’ had three friends and his dog with him in his Vauxhall Corsa when it careered off a country road yesterday afternoon.  

He lost control when the giant creepy crawly flew in through the window during the mini-heatwave.

The four people had driven ten miles despite Government guidance for Brits to only leave the house for essential work, shopping or exercise.

Luckily they and the dog were not hurt in the smash in Thatcham, Berkshire, but the car was left badly damaged.

Locals slammed the driver for wasting the emergency services’ time.

Thames Valley Police Roads Policing tweeted: ‘Driver of this car crashed on the B4009 Thatcham due to a large bug flying in!

‘They were driving TEN miles from home to walk their dog, three friends in the car.

‘Discharged at at scene. Police, fire and ambulance attended. Clearly an avoidable journey! @TVP-WestBerks STAYATHOME!’

Local Nick Townsend said: ‘Just down the road from me. I heard there was an accident.

‘I hope their insurance doesn’t pay out, Idiots. What is it these people don’t understand?’

Joanna Green, of nearby Basingstoke, Hampshire, fumed: ‘I wish you were given the power to take their licences away.

‘It’s all emergency services workers that are unnecessarily being exposed and their households.

‘Selfishness has gotten the better of society.’

Tim Carne quipped: ‘Is the bug going to be ok?!?!

TVP Roads Policing replied: ‘The bug didn’t make it.’
