THIS is the chilling moment a killer husband exposed his guilt at murdering his wife after she vanished "from the face off the earth".

Adrian Prout strangled wife Kate, 55, at their £1.2million farmhouse in Redmarley D'Abitot, Gloucs, in 2007.

The monster then poured himself a glass of whiskey and wrapped Kate's body in a curtain before dumping her in his Land Rover.

After boozing at the local pub, he drove to woodland and dug a hole where he placed his wife's body.

The former businessman told police Kate vanished after storming out to "wind him up" following a series of rows.

Prout was convicted of murdering the ex-teacher but it was another four years before he finally told police where to find Kate's body.

Documentary Faking It has now revealed how Prout gave away his guilt as he lied to police years before making his grisly confession.

In his interview, he tells officers he hasn't had any contact with his wife since she disappeared.

But body language expert Dr Cliff Lansley says: "Prout has reported his wife missing but we smell a rat here because there's a couple of things going on.

"First of all he's clamped up and tense. He's got his hands clamped in the defensive position protecting his groin, which we often see when people are feeling apprehensive or nervous.

"We see some manipulating going on. Manipulating is when one part of the body touches another part of the body. So if you watch his thumbs here, they're manipulating each other."

In the same interview, Prout is asked whether he had any concerns over her wellbeing.

The monster replies: "Well I did but I thought if things weren't good someone would have rang me or I assumed she was OK".

Dr Lansley tells the show how Prout shakes his head rather than nodding, which is a "gestural slip".

He adds: "Those micro headshakes continue to 'I assumed she was OK'.

"While he's using those words, we get the one, two, three, four little micro headshakes 'no'.

"I assumed she was OK? No you didn't. He knew she wasn't OK, she was dead."

Prout and his wife had been locked in a bitter divorce battle over their farm.

Kate had wanted an £800,000 settlement, which meant Prout would have needed to sell the plot.

On November 5, 2007, the farmer and ground worker murdered his wife in a shooting lodge following a blazing row over money.

He contacted police five days later to report her as a missing person and a huge search was mounted.

Kate had disappeared without taking any clothes, valuables, money or her car.

No significant forensic evidence was found linking Prout to his wife's disappearance but he was charged with murder despite cops not finding her body.

Prosecutors used her diary to outline how there had been a violent breakdown in the marriage that culminated in her death.

Prout was convicted andsentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 18 years in 2010.

Five years later he finally admitted his gruesome crime while in jail and led officers to Kate's body.

Forensic psychologist Kerry Daynes tells the show: "I don't buy the fact he just snapped.

"He had done his calculations and he wanted to hang on to his farm, he wanted to hang onto his money and that was more important to him and worth more to him than the life of the woman he shared his life with for so long and for so many years."
