Yellowstone is set to return to The Paramount Network with its fourth season this Autumn. The hit Western drama series follows the patriarch of the Dutton family, John (played by Kevin Costner), as he protects his beloved ranch. Season two featured two of the show’s favourite villains, Malcolm (Neil McDonough) and Teal Beck (Terry Serpico) as they got involved in a conflict over Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Reflecting on the dramatic second season, many fans are asking: why did Terry Serpico leave Yellowstone as Teal Beck? Express.co.uk has all the details.

*Warning – spoilers for Yellowstone season two will follow*

Yellowstone fans saw two of the show’s biggest villains killed off as the second season drew to a close.

Brothers Malcolm and Teal Beck’s antics came to an end in the season finale after the true extent of their moral corruption and connections to white supremacists was revealed.

The businessmen siblings were aggravated by the leader of the Broken Rock Indian Reservation, Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham).

They saw Rainwater as competition as, along with Dan Jenkins (Danny Huston), the Beck brothers had plans to build a casino in the valley.

Teal and Malcolm quickly became enemies of John, which led to their eventual departure from the show.

The season two finale saw John and the rest of the Dutton family take out a group of white supremacists and the Beck brothers.

Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) made a promise to his wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille) that he would kill the men responsible for kidnapping their son Tate (Brecken Merrill).

He eventually managed to take revenge on Teal and brutally did so while the corrupt businessman was on the toilet.

Kayce broke into the house to find Teal in the bathroom and shot him in the stomach.

After threatening Teal for more information, Kayce eventually discovered Tate’s whereabouts.

But he still wanted revenge and shot Teal twice more this time fatally, staging it to look like it was a shootout.

Malcolm also met his match in the form of John who severely wounded him and left him for dead.

Looking back on the dramatic deaths in season two, some Yellowstone fans are wondering why actor Terry Serpico, who played Teal on the show, left the drama series.

No official reason for his exit has been given, but it was most likely a directorial decision.

As Teal died in the season two finale, it could be that his death was just another dramatic twist to keep viewers hooked.

Alternatively, Teal’s death may have been written into the show because Terry had other acting work lined up.

The star has been keeping himself busy since his shocking exit from Yellowstone.

Terry’s gone on to star in a number of other popular TV shows including Homeland, The Flight Attendant, Cobra Kai and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Fans of the actor can also catch him on the big screen in films Birdie and Faceless.

Yellowstone airs on The Paramount Network.
