THINGS are heating up in the MasterChef kitchen.

One expert who is on hand as a guest judge in the 2022 series is top chef Clare Smyth.

Who is Clare Smyth?

Clare Smyth MBE was born in 1978 and is a Northern Irish chef.

She is the Chef Patron of Core by Clare Smyth which opened in 2017.

Clare has also appeared on television shows such as MasterChef and Saturday Kitchen.

She also notably catered at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 2018 wedding.

When was Clare Smyth on MasterChef?

Clare has appeared several times on different MasterChef series' as a guest judge over the years.

She was first on the original UK series in 2010, where she gave her expert opinion.

That same year Clare appeared on an episode of MasterChef: The Professionals.

From 2017 to 2021 she was a regular guest judge on MasterChef Australia.

Has Clare Smyth worked with Gordon Ramsay?

In 2002, at the age of 24-years-old, Gordon Ramsay offered Clare a post at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay – and by 2007 she was the head chef there.

She the first female chef in the UK to run a restaurant with three Michelin stars.

During her time working for Gordon, she left to work for a year-and-a-half in Alain Ducasse's Le Louis XV restaurant in Monaco, before returning once more to the UK to run the Chelsea-based restaurant.

Clare left Restaurant Gordon Ramsay for good in 2016 to open her own restaurant.

Which restaurants does Clare Smyth own?

Clare opened her first restaurant, called Core, in London's Notting Hill in July 2017, and by April 2018 was named Best Restaurant at the GQ Food and Drink Awards.

Core was then awarded two Michelin stars in the 2019 Michelin Guide – and received a third star in 2021.

In 2021 Clare opened another restaurant – this time in Sydney, Australia- called Oncore.
