The streaming service also allows subscribers to download episodes onto selected devices.

Nicolas Winding Refn fans can sign up to a 30-day free trial, giving them plenty of time to watch all 13 hours of Too Old to Die Young.

After that time Amazon Prime Video is £5.99 a month.

Alternatively, it is available as part of an Amazon Prime subscription, which costs £79 a year – working out at about £6.60 a month

What is Too Old to Die Young about?

The official synopsis for Too Old to Die Young reads: “Detective Martin Jones (played by Miles Teller) leads a double life as a killer for hire in Los Angeles’ deadly underground.

“Coming under the sway of Viggo (John Hawkes), a mysterious vigilante with an apocalyptic vision, Martin suffers an existential crisis, which leads him deeper into a blood splattered world of violence and murder.

“This dark odyssey takes Martin to the deserts of New Mexico, and a pair of Satan-worshipping brothers who have their own ideas of good and evil.”

The series begins with Martin working as a police officer, who is present at the execution of his partner in a revenge killing.

This event leads to Martin’s life spiralling into violence, similar to the fate that befalls Ryan Gosling’s character in Too Old to Die Young creator Nicolas Winding Refn’s most famous film, Drive.

Each episode of Too Old to Die Young is around 90 minutes in length, with the whole series clocking in at around 13 hours.

However, director Nicolas Winding Refn said he considers the series as a 13-hour long film, similar to Twin Peaks: The Return.

The Rotten Tomatoes critics consensus for the series reads: “Grim and graphic, Too Old to Die Young is stylish, but its languid story does little to justify its violent tendencies – though fans of Refn’s may find enjoyment in its neon laden misery.”
