After a shocking cliffhanger ending to season 10, fans were left to speculate the fate of their favourite AMC characters. The Walking Dead will finally be returning to screens next month and there’s major speculation about the return of Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln).

Ahead of the upcoming season, AMC has recently released a brand new first-look description about Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming).

It read: “A child of the apocalypse, Judith is stronger than her years would indicate, she continues to hold her head high and fight with might for all to live.

“She feels the pressure of possibly being the only one left in her immediate family, this is a heavy load to carry at any age.”

With the official description saying she is “possibly” the last remaining Grimes family member, perhaps season 11 could see the highly desired return of Rick Grimes.

The last time audiences saw Rick was in 2018’s season nine episode as he was mysteriously taken away by a helicopter by a militia known as CRM (the Civic Republic Military).

This came after his unconscious body washed up at a shore following an explosion after he attempted to save a bridge.

He left behind his 10-year-old adopted daughter Judith who had since been looked after by Michonne Hawthorne (Danai Gurira) and used weapons to fight for her life against the walkers.

So, if Rick does return in season 11, he will be surprised to see that Judith had survived and become fiercely brave in the process.

According to AMC, Judith’s adoptive uncle Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) will also be making a comeback in season 11. He is described as: “A man of few words, Daryl is forthright, weary, guarded, and most of all, strategic. His nomadic nature allows him to navigate the familiar and unfamiliar.

“The divide with Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) is an issue they must address, but food and supplies take precedence. A word to the wise – never mess with his dog.”

Rick’s potential return would also be well received by Daryl as the two were very close friends, even calling each other brothers.

In the upcoming season, his love interest Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) is set out to be: “Steadfast in her priorities to help rebuild Alexandria and keep all within its walls protected and fed.

“But others see the means to survival differently, the strain between her and Daryl is on her mind as she continues to operate independently.

“She will always go to greater lengths to protect herself, her family, and her community.”

Alexandria was a safe community until it was destroyed by a group of survivors from saviours and after defeating them, Carol was one of the people determined to save the community.

Fellow survivor Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) is set to appear in season 11 and AMC gave fans a sneak peek into her character: “Yumiko’s strength is her intellect and it serves her well.

“Captured, she has little tolerance for the questioning by the troopers, she is unlike anyone they have questioned before, allowing her to look at the situation in a different light, while shedding light on the inner-workings of her new surroundings.”

After the apocalypse, Yumiko was reduced by Judith and taken to Alexandria before eventually settling at the Hilltop Colony.

Fans will have to wait until August to see if Rick will make a surprise return and be finally reunited with his Judith.

Season 11 will premiere on Monday 23rd August on Star on Disney+ and has been confirmed as the final season of the series.
