THE Chase's Mark Labbett looks terrified as struggles to get the hang of driving a HUGE American van on The Chase's Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles.

In footage from tonight's episode of the brand new three-part series, fellow chasers Anne Hegerty and Shaun Wallace are seen worrying for their livelihood as he gets behind the wheel.

The new ITV show will see the trio try to answer the question: 'Are we really as smart as we think we are?' in a number of ways whilst travelling around the UK, America and Japan.

They are put up to the challenge by some incredibly intelligent children on their home grounds, great apes in the USA, and robot technology over in East Asia.

But one thing Mark can't get his head around is driving a huge van over in the States.

In one scene from the upcoming show, the TV personality gets himself into a bit of a pickle whilst manoeuvring himself, Anna and Shaun around town.

As Mark tries to get the vehicle started he says: "What am I doing wrong?"

A worried Anne replies: "You need to press a button on the end…"

The gang get going and the former I'm A Celebrity star, who has the joy of sitting at the front of the van with Mark, is seen holding on to the side of vehicle with her dear life.

"How close am I to the parked cars?" Mark asks.

A scared Anne replies: "Moderately close, I'm probably just twitchy…"

As he turns the corner the TV personality apologies for the bumpy ride and says: "Terribly sorry guys. It's a bit bigger than I thought it was."

And although the trio as some of the "biggest brains of the quizzing universe," the voice explains that driving is quite a complicated skill to master.

They explain: "Although it may appear to be a simple task, driving is one of the most complex challenges your brain can undertake."

Mark then shouts: "What on earth was that?!"

"That's you scraping against the curb," Anne replies in a stern voice.

The voice over continues: "Processing 11 million pieces of information per second, the brain balances co-ordination, and spacial awareness, to create a seamless journey.

"Well that's the theory anyway…"

The trio are about to embark on an "intellectual journey" and come face to face with a number of different objects, people and animals who could be smarter than them.

A Bonobo ape called Kanzi who can communicate with humans through pictures and symbols, a 25-year-old Orangutang called Katie with an incredible brain and some dolphins make them question if animals are on the same wave length as humans.

Anne, Mark and Shaun also have the pleasure of meeting some youngsters who put their knowledge to the test, and also delve into the world of technology to discover what the current advances mean for us in the future.

Watch The Chaser's Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles tonight (Thursday 21st January 2021) at 9pm on ITV.
