The Chase's Darragh Ennis and host Bradley Walsh took a savage swipe at co-star Shaun Wallace's autobiography during a recent episode of the show.

Walsh welcomed four new hopefuls to the ITV gameshow and first up to try her luck was Belinda.

After her cash builder round, Bradley then asked the contestant who she would like to take on, to which she admitted that she'd like to challenge "fellow Northerner Jenny".

However, Darragh was the star of the show and walked out to meet her face to face.

Upon his arrival, Ennis was prepared with a savage dig aimed at fellow Chaser Shaun.

Darragh said: "Hello, Belinda. Now, if your book club is ever becoming over-subscribed, may I recommend Chasing The Dream by Shaun Wallace?"

His witty remark was met with giggled from the audience and the players before Bradley made his own quip.

He suggested: "Mmm, yeah. Well, that'll cure your insomnia!"

After the laughter had subsided, Bradley then urged him to "put some money on the table".

Although Darragh thought she was "too good," he offered Belinda a low offer of £1,000 and a high offer of £35,000, which could get her "a very nice car".

She turned to chat with her team mates and they all wanted the contestant to return to the podium and take her initial £6,000.

Belinda admitted that she "likes a bit of roulette and gambling" but "£35,000 wasn't enough for her" so she decided to take the £6,000.

Ennis said it was "fair enough" and they continued on with the show before Bradley said her fighting talk was "great stuff" and he "loved it".

Fans were overjoyed to see that their favourite Chaser had been brought out to compete and many viewers took to Twitter to share their joy.

One typed: "Yay, Darragh," with a heart eyed emoji, while another simply wrote "yes".

Darragh has a loyal fanbase and many of them were in tears over a recent joke he made on Twitter.

He branded his tweet "downright offensive" – but the picture simply showed the word "offensive" written in the bottom right corner on a plain white background.
